The work depicts Saint Catherine of Alexandria in an atmosphere of intense spirituality and majesty. The central figure, dressed in a richly decorated red dress, symbolises martyrdom and royalty. The background, dominated by a sky studded with stars and dramatic clouds, emphasises the transcendence and mystery of its connection with the figure of Hypatia, whom I wished to pay homage to. The iconographic elements, such as the broken wheel and the sword, recall her martyrdom and spiritual strength. The detail of the roses and the palm tree at her feet symbolise her sacrifice and triumph over death.
